Min: Share of Web economy in Russian GDP rises to 2.3% in 2015
MOSCOW, May 11 (PRIME) -- The share of Internet economy in Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.7 percentage points in 2015 to 2.3%, Communications and Mass Media Minister Nikolai Nikiforov said Wednesday at a government meeting.
“The share is expanding by very high rates,” Nikiforov said.
The dynamics mean that infrastructure projects in the industry of information technologies are needed, the minister said.
Audience of the Russian segment of the Internet, known as the Runet, grew 8.1% in 2015 to 80 million users.
“The number of consumers of pay legal content went up from 12 to 18 million people,” the official said.
